[0:00]" We are talking with Charlie Baker Republican for governor. And I have to start how I'm sure one of the things you least like talking about may be is money at least when it comes do you raising money for your campaign but that's is a big headline this week. Because -- have a certainly had a good month last month -- you raise more than half a million dollars."
[0:19]" we did in the best part about it. Our supporters and contributors are coming from all over Massachusetts and it's pretty clear that. What people out there are tightening their belts that like to see a lot more belt tightening at the state level as well I think in many ways. The fact that I've been there and done that before with -- with respect to turn around have a lot to do with what people personal interest in this -- in the campaign."
[0:45]" You talked about the way the state is running the budget of course the governor has just come up with another round of budget cuts his goal is to close at 600 million dollar budget gap at least that's the number we have right now. What do you make of the cuts he's proposing."
[0:59]" I think major probably got is that. The whole approach to this is not reform and restructure of the whole approach services to -- a little here come a little there. What people are looking for as -- walk around and then travel around Massachusetts is somebody who really take on the issue of restructuring state government simplifying it. They're creating frankly an operating model that can live within its means the -- around the edges stuff which is what's going on that was simply American against the where we need to be."
[1:28]" Speaking out restructuring. The mass dot the new transportation agency debuted this week. It pretty much makes an umbrella agency for many of the transportation systems in the state including. The turnpike authority mass highways some of the bridges. What do you make of that restructuring will save money."
[1:47]" They better save money those of big part of the reason why I was pursued in the first place. I think -- the day that will be one of the major test of whether succeeds the other one of course is going to be. Whether and how we actually end up with a truly coordinated. Transportation system which is something many people vote for the last. A few years with the turnpike authority -- doing something in him as he was he doing and so things completed."
[2:14]" When you talk about the tinkering I'll call it that's going on with adjustments here adjustments there what kind of restructuring would you do as governor."
[2:23]" We over a 140 agencies and state government everybody who's ever worked in state government let's say this is somebody's been eight years there and admires and appreciates the work that -- spoke to repeat today. As much as anyone we'll tell you that we have too many layers of your -- to we have too much complexity and and too many. Operating agencies and we you know. I think senator Murray talked last week about the fact we have pictures and economic development agencies on -- still in the same thing none of them doing them particularly well because none of -- Capable of doing particularly well because they're not organized and coordinated and I think this is one of the best opportunities we'll ever have. Dramatically shrink besides of the operating model and simplify that we should take full advantage of."
[3:09]" There are two governors races that are getting a lot of national attention today one in Virginia the other in New Jersey and some people are calling it an 880. Test of how well the president is doing and how well the Democratic Party is doing are you watching those races as well."
[3:27]" My I think the Virginia races pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point I think McDonald and -- most people. So that Waco and an obviously New Jersey is a much closer race but I certainly think it's an opportunity for the people in both states to come they feel about the current. Leadership I think for us as Republicans and challengers that's going to be important Bellwether."
[3:49]" And it will be interesting to see if the governor's race here Massachusetts and 30 is also a referendum on President Obama and his his job."
[3:58]" I wouldn't read too many conclusions we get that part feel -- I basically think the people of Massachusetts when they vote for governor there or first. Now a member of the states that are member of the House of Representatives. They're voting for somebody -- they want to have worry about take care and support them on the issues that matter here home. I think this election here messages in 2000 will be an election about that."
[4:22]" Hard to believe his next year and I I. You are very well aware and thank you for the interview this morning -- always a pleasure."
