Play from 0:00[0:00]" The race for US senate the special election which will determine who will fill out the restive senator Ted Kennedy's term after January so as to be decided by. Primary elections in December. And Republican Scott Brown a Republican state senator. He was here on WBZ. He waited until the weekend to make it clear although everybody knew senator that you were very likely to two run. Did you wait because you were awaiting the decision by former state rep and cabinet member Andy card."

Play from 0:31[0:31]" That was certainly one of the consideration of the mentioned I was you know about 90% there waiting for a couple pieces to come together and certainly India's. Qualified person and I felt it was important to get his his input before I made the final decision."

Play from 0:45[0:45]" And they can receive the same thing about and other potential challenger Christie by house who also was talking. Police -- day or so but gore for the same CDU are in the decided to continue his quest for governor."

Play from 0:56[0:56]" No Chris Christie's. Because he had no with no input -- bearing on my decision at all and certainly. No wish him well but I know is focused on running for governor."

Play from 1:05[1:05]" And others another Republican Kennedys were public can select involved. The burden. The not really known outside of his hometown all that much you aware of anybody else who may wanna get in."

Play from 1:17[1:17]" Now now certainly am focused on on my efforts right now we've obviously been working up over the weekend getting signatures and raising money in. And just getting everything up and running and at high speed and we're we're very happy with the results so far."

Play from 1:30[1:30]" Well what kind of a mobile platform you would displace other."

Play from 1:33[1:33]" Well it is certainly one of of a popular centrist platform where people are concerned about the jobs in the economy in the retirement plans and therefore on occasion down jobs in Massachusetts and throughout the country we're losing them. In addition of that obviously you know we're talking about taxes and and health care you have being the sixtieth senator potentially. There -- whole host of things that are on the table in this coming. Certainly session in Washington I think he needs somebody who's a little bit different in terms of your opinion that there -- independence we have eleven people down there and now moved. All you know walked the same in March to the same marching orders -- Harry -- another legislative leaders in the administration would've been nice to have somebody down there who. Things a little bit differently and has more of an independent streak."

Play from 2:18[2:18]" It is difficult for a Republican to be elected to the congressional delegation from Massachusetts history shows that. And you've probably got to a tough fight if you make it through the the primary in December you probably have a tough fight in your hand whichever of the house Democrats is the -- in their primary."

Play from 2:36[2:36]" Well I looked forward to -- that the the general election obviously we're gearing up towards that and and certainly am an underdog and and and me against the machine in this in this state and I'm not part of that machine and I don't plan to pander promise anything to this special interest. And I'm gonna continue to be an independent voice for the the people as I've done work across party lines look at the votes to read them. And then that take those tough votes in not to worry about it because I don't owe anybody anything and I would be a term limits person. Two full terms after this one I challenged my opponents to do the same or the other people that are running. And you know I look forward to the people of Massachusetts especially very very frustrated -- business as usual not only a Beacon Hill. It's certainly in Washington."

Play from 3:19[3:19]" You mentioned health care and what's sure your position and what we're hearing about health care reform. Canal the president's plan and so the other."

Play from 3:27[3:27]" And certainly against the government auction proposal as a I think many people -- just know just came and indicated that she can't supported I understand we're gonna verify that. But certainly we have one of the best health care plans in the country and they trying to model their plan. You know to our plan that we passed and while I still has some problems. We have 94% of the people -- insured. We have the best doctors teaching hospitals insurance companies that provide services why do we want a dumb down our medical services and to. Basically conform to some government. Option it just makes no sense to him quite frankly little surprise that the delegation. Down there is is so easily you know throwing our medical and hospitals and doctors nurses under the bus."

Play from 4:10[4:10]" Explain how. The public option that the president and some of his supporters have been discussing. As senator brown will do differ from the commonwealth connector which makes insurance subsidized insurance subsidized with taxpayer expense obviously. Available to low income people here."

Play from 4:27[4:27]" I was actually very similar they said they're trying to model their plan against our debt and -- one of the problems that we're having with the connectors. -- the mandates. And we have we're actually revisiting this particular issue because as you know where about half a billion dollars in the whole regarding. You know because of these these. The way that we're providing services and a lot of mandated coverage. And that's the biggest problem in Massachusetts the government option the way it's being -- to work in progress everything he keeps changing me you know quite frequently. You know it is very similar and problematic."

Play from 5:01[5:01]" So this would did that aspect of Massachusetts mandatory. A health insurance would not be something you wanna see the federal government model any national program."

Play from 5:11[5:11]" They could have been -- I think they need to be aware of of the pitfalls and that's once you open the door. You know the flood of coverages keeps coming NN and the cost keeps rising and rising and rising. And the reimbursement to the doctors. Or less muscle mass and there could be as big creates suspicion bigger amount of debt. And it's you know it's something that we're trying to address in Massachusetts certainly and you know I'm I'm quite concerned that the government optional undercut the the strain. Medical coverage that we have here in Massachusetts already you know we're we're we were basically pitting. Our great plan against there plan."

Play from 5:49[5:49]" State senator and he hopes to become US senator Scott Brown here on WBZ. Senator good luck thanks a million."
