Play from 0:00[0:00]" This is WBZ's Carl Stevens talking Secretary of State Bill Galvin and work. We're talking about done what may or may not happen when it comes to census taking end legal as well as illegal immigrants. Maybe boycotting mr. secretary just put -- your thoughts are on that."

Play from 0:15[0:15]" I think this is incredibly wrong headed and really bad move. This separate which apparently is -- splinter group of people who are. Concerned about the slow pace of immigration reform. Suggesting the people that they not get counted. As sort of punishment for not reforming immigration laws is just ridiculous. The reality is that first -- all that. The practical -- would be to reduce our political clout in congress Massachusetts is always on the -- it was in this new congress and there's no difference this time around. The history here has been that Massachusetts congressional delegation has been this world largest groups in support of immigration. Form an entire congress one of the strongest voices. So to reduce as good as a means of supposedly advancing that goal of immigration reform Expos sent. This the other even more practical issue and it that much of the federal programming money that we or. Public education public transportation and highways. Public health. Comes from the federal government based upon our population. And these immigrants who are here. -- were actually using these services when they -- public education or public transportation. Would be depriving are being a community that is where they live of the assistants stability would need to get the services that they used. So this is just a very bad idea. And the very irresponsible idea those who were advocating. The law requires that everyone be counted. Everyone about a half this year including students who spent most of -- here. Obviously it's in Massachusetts interest to try to make sure that everyone discounted because it means. -- territory 1755. Dollars and every year for every person count federal assistance. I find a little ironic that it some of the people who. Most of post immigration reform would be delighted if these folks were confident that they are the ones who most likely decided that shouldn't be counted so there in league with the people who oppose their efforts. I just think this incredibly wrong headed idea. I'm going to be working very hard to make sure everyone in Massachusetts is counted. To get the highest population that we can get the most accurate population count we can get. And I would hope that everything would join and that its domestic interest it is terrible public education particular about public health and transportation. And if you wanna make sure Massachusetts gets its fair -- investigate shortchanged. Then you -- content."
