Play from 0:00[0:00]" The story in Boston today. Is the story. Around the country. The so called Craig list killer caught that's what the headline the Boston Herald. It's shouted out this morning for those of us who picked up papers off of our doorstep you medical student charged in hotel killing. This is a national story. Seems to me like we periodically have these stories whether it's Charles Stewart or Neil Entwistle. Summaries and always seems to happen here in Boston. We're going to talk about this tonight feel free to -- get on board. There were just so many questions I'm not going to try to articulate the questions -- the issues but I am. Going to be very happy to welcome to the program. Suffolk County district attorney Dan Connolly DN welcome tonight side you're here about a week ago and whoever thought to be back this quickly."

Play from 0:55[0:55]" Well you have please read but thanks for having me on can appreciate your interest in this case."

Play from 0:59[0:59]" Well it's -- it is a fascinating cases sad case. Again I referenced Charles Stewart in Neil Entwistle I don't know if those names of cross your mind in the last 24 hours but they certainly he crossed my mind. This investigation. Has been conducted. With lightning speed on this. I think The Herald had the time line this morning. The the first assault. The alleged assault on an April 10. We're -- once a week and a half ago and it is it is all. Wrapped up at least and again presumption of innocence prevail. This man is innocent until proven guilty. But you look at him in court. You look at the on the VD video surveillance that was released. You look at the attendant circumstances. I think it's been reported general. How much you can respond if you cannot respond feel free gun also these these bond these buying and so whatever. The -- ties that were that we use. It would appear give a pretty solid case here."

Play from 2:05[2:05]" Leading to very solid case in a very compelling case stimulus money and I tip my cap to the men and women of the Boston Police homicide unit this Suffolk County DA's office homicide unit who worked. Seamlessly from. The moment that you -- was killed. And mainly linked back to the April 10 robbery. Made the connection relatively quickly that incidents. But they really have work to be in the the expression around the clock but I can say have been had spoken with them regularly throughout the last several days they really catalogue tremendous amount to man and woman hours. In putting this thing together and case certainly did go faster than we typically do see in Boston. And that's. You know because we like to take -- time we'd like to build a very powerful case against descendants of the miniature action bullet. Heinous crime like this but this one really came together. Quickly. It came together to a variety of sources -- Individuals -- woman from the Westin hotel -- positively identified Philip -- office her assailant. It also includes forensic evidence traditional forensic evidence and includes. Electronic forensic evidence so there's a lot of information -- income -- feel when your listeners that yes indeed last night. One search warrant was executed Quincy home a firearm was recovered. Along with a trip restraints that. Similar to ones used in the robberies as well as some duct tape so. So there were evidence gathered last night that further. Add to the of the strength of the case against so my copy."

Play from 3:46[3:46]" Can you tell us what his reaction was apparently. Either I assume you're detectives may be in conjunction with the state police. Actually on apprehended him somewhere in Walpole yesterday on route 95 self you believed he was heading. Off just to have spent some time at foxwoods. Can you give us a sense as to what his reaction was so what the fiance is reaction was who apparently. There was news reports now she was in the car when the apprehension took place."

Play from 4:15[4:15]" Good idea. It you know we didn't know what to what he was up to. At that time he Boston Police. Had him under surveillance with a real cracker Jack team of officers and they reported commissioner Davis. And eight you know some kind. In the yen midafternoon. -- suspect. Was on the -- and you know we agreed that look we don't want this guy leaving Massachusetts. To a stop -- he was traveling at a very high rate of speed down that route 95. We could stop him. He would cooperate that I could say that. And that he agreed he was not placed under arrest in Walpole he agreed to come back to Boston Police headquarters for questioning. And I can't really -- in on radio you know these substances any conversation he may have had with a but he cooperate he came back and that was that bought the police headquarters. That he was first arrested. For. The armed robbery. In in in April on April 10 at the --"

Play from 5:26[5:26]" NN. Did he have to be traveling if he'd stayed in the speed limit. And could abuse could if you pull them over anyway as a potential suspect -- out."

Play from 5:35[5:35]" We -- he was not going to be permitted to believe. Massachusetts because he was a person of interest we want to stop government. And it and didn't get bring him back headquarters for questioning. We we had enough evidence. -- to do that but he cooperated fully came back. Was escorted back by Boston Police. And again I'm not at liberty to -- These substance of that but. It was that -- possibly headquarters that he was arrested and charged."

Play from 6:08[6:08]" His fiance. Who apparently lives with -- has been making some statements in which he supports him. Right down the line I mean there's no question in her mind based upon the statements that she's been emailing. Has she provided any sort of an alibi is still. We he would have been on these various and sundry sundry times which -- only with in the last week to ten days."

Play from 6:34[6:34]" And she was. Traveling with mark. Yesterday. So she was also cooperative brought back to police headquarters. And interviewed. After. Discussing it with the detectives we determined that there were no. There was no facts to suggest that she had been. Had committed -- crime of any kind tissue was -- And beyond that the -- you know what you said freedom and liberty discussed in the radio. But. You know like that cause we have no control what -- seeing right now on the public well."

Play from 7:09[7:09]" They're clearly what's going to happen is this it's bound over to grand jury this is not going to remain at the district court levels so. That -- were injured again obviously the grand jury proceedings are private that you and I both of -- around the blockage somewhere down the line. A grand jury indictment is going to issue and the the district court charges. Will be washed away and he'll he'll have to face an arraignment on murder charges superior court because the maximum sentence in his district court. His two and a half year political correct and last question animal and reviews the -- for the -- how did he first come under. Suspicion. How hard with what was the first break that they've got Q2 two Quincy."

Play from 7:49[7:49]" It was. The processing. Of forensic. Computer. Evidence it was the it was the email contact that he made with the defeat. -- some Christmas. In my -- and by tracing email exchange back with. To Quinn the we were able to put a lock on to his apartment build. In Quincy. And then. The Boston Police put the building under surveillance now mind you of course we had this surveillance footage trumbull the west and in the -- it. And then markka was seen. Entering the Quinn the property remarkably. Similar in. Almost all characteristics if not all characteristics to our suspect hiding the age the way -- hair color console war so can he -- he then became under surveillance by Boston Police and then. Day along with the Suffolk prosecutors. Were building in the evidence. Is that led us to yesterday things like forensic evidence witness statements identification procedures like."

Play from 9:00[9:00]" Did it did they have surveillance on him Thursday in war per chance I assume not."

Play from 9:04[9:04]" But for the best to my knowledge. He did not come under surveillance and into left until all the incident but I my wife should. Caution everybody that at this point anyway. Who -- what we're cooperating with the war authorities believe he's a person of interest but -- I don't believe that they have made me a firm decision."

Play from 9:24[9:24]" It was as if you're offices let him go to Rhode Island. -- right last question this is the last question the gun that was recovered with that registered to him or to someone else. You know."

Play from 9:34[9:34]" You know I don't know the answer to that question it was -- being processed what we always do we get a gun is we Trace it back to its last known. Legitimate all and so many of these -- of course -- stolen -- bought on the black market so. Very difficult the will figure that out as well."

Play from 9:51[9:51]" Again I appreciate your time I'm sure that you a lot of missed a lot of things to do we're going to open up the phone lines but I'm going to -- ago because. Begin their a lot of questions are sure people going to ask that may be might not be able to lynch appreciate having been in here of ironically a week or so ago. And appreciate you coming back and be -- available on the floor tonight."

Play from 10:11[10:11]" Guess my pleasure and thank you once again for your interest in the case central around the this put them -- much."

Play from 10:17[10:17]" much you're calling Suffolk County district attorney. This is Dan -- side and WBZ Newsradio 1030."
