Play from 0:00[0:00]" This is WBZ's Carl Stevens speaking with the communication director for Governor Patrick Joe -- week. Joe these numbers from the Suffolk University poll are not flattering for the governor I just wonder what your what your reaction is."

Play from 0:14[0:14]" While Carl as Governor Patrick sit through out his campaign and throughout the first two years of his administration is working. On long term issues. That he believes are going to help us get through this current economic crisis. Grow jobs and secure the Commonwealth's economic future. He's been willing to tackle tough issues like the gas tax pension reform. That are going to benefit the state in the long term but. They also bring political consequences he recognizes that. But we're going to keep focusing on the long term rather than the next day's headlines or poll results we think in the long term Massachusetts residents will. Recognize. That some of these most of these issues are going to benefit the -- in the long term and when not going to. Worry about poll numbers it's far too early to be thinking about poll numbers."

Play from 1:09[1:09]" You talk about his focus on long term results it's. You know possibly sacrificing short term popularity. What are some of those issues who think that he's getting hit on right now that you think will pay off in the long run."

Play from 1:22[1:22]" Well clearly pension reform. On ethics reform and these things that you are seeing the legislature moving on very quickly there governor Patrick's initiatives. Bringing down. The Massachusetts turnpike authority and ultimately bringing down the tolls by reforming. Are past the State's transportation systems. And addressing our crumbling roads and bridges. By proposing a revenue stream a gas tax because without it. Things will only worsen. And he's not been afraid or shy. To introduce. These. Tough -- measures because ultimately. They're going to benefit everyone in the commonwealth. You think the guest expert and nobody likes to raise taxes the governor's that it before it's a crummy time to be asking folks. Two dip into their pockets and pay more money we understand that but we have a twenty billion dollar. Problem with our roads and bridges they have been ignored by past administrations but for more than almost two decades now. And we have to address our economic future depends on it. The nineteen cent gas tax cut the governor's proposal we are open to other proposals but. Clearly I think both the house and Senate Leadership sit. -- revenue stream is going to be needed."
