[0:00]" Brandeis University my alma mater has some beautiful buildings on its campus. Including the 48 year old Rose Art Museum which displays parts of the university's 6000 piece art collection quite a resource for a small university like Brandeis and apparently. The latest casualty of this recession. Brandeis has they'll close the museum and sell off the art to try to close the huge budget deficit. It's not -- that Brandeis officials told the globe or cut faculty jam more kids into dorms and classrooms and cut back on academic programs. Actually there may have to be some of that even after they shut down the museum. Says the president of Brandeis quote the rose museum -- jewel but for the most part it's hidden jewel it does not have great foot traffic. We felt that we had no choice and quote. In other words. Brandeis was forced to triage to make a choice about priorities with dire consequences. For whatever missed the cut. It seems that they prioritize their students and faculty and the quality of the academic programs over their art museum. And I think that was the right choice they're hardly the only ones to be forced into making unwanted choices these days. Right now public employees in cities like Boston are wrestling with a choice between freezing their own wages temporarily. We're seeing a reduction of the workforce and its ability to serve the public. That's a brutal choice for those workers and their families you tell me what's the right choice do what's best for your house or helped keep your neighbor employed. In times like these you find out which companies and individuals really do care the most about their community and which do not. We're also in the process of finding out which politicians. Are willing to prioritize reform and human needs over insider politics and their own egos. -- find out more about where Governor Patrick -- on that spectrum tomorrow when he unveils new budget cuts. But most of all we're finding out about ourselves. Given a choice between something. Or someone. What will we choose."
