[0:00]" A -- a -- to goal and the polls if you believe them don't look good for John McCain. But he says that the polls are often wrong and that he is actually closer than they indicated joining us this morning. One of the people who was out campaigning for today in Ohio and Cleveland former bay state governor. Mitt Romney good morning governor and how confident are you in the McCain Palin ticket."
[0:21]" Well you know ahead you may remember that last last fall and summer. John McCain was have written not in the primaries Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson myself well ahead of him but somehow he he -- strong -- was and it ended up with a prize so don't amount. And don't put too much too but stressed to the polls and electrocuted the prize a surprise on election night."
[0:44]" McCain said yesterday. On meet the press -- bad -- he's going to win but it's going to be a late night indicating. What states are most crucial as far as you see the governor."
[0:56]" Well you know Ohio and Florida I have always been that as swing states important state Missouri as well as. A Pennsylvania can be important states for for Senator McCain as well. He he keeps his a specific. Targets that pretty close to the best. But I think you're going to see in the final days here he spent a lot of time and Ohio Pennsylvania and Florida."
[1:18]" As you know governor Romney there has been a lot of criticism particularly as people have become more familiar with the admittedly thin resume of of Governor Palin as the the vice presidential running mate and a great question to you. It's addictive kind of an embarrassing question buys the anyway would you open a stronger running mate for John McCain. "
[1:39]" And how I take it -- McCain chose the person he's couple that. Who who shares his philosophy who has. Served as the mayor and the governor. Yet and I also -- your your first time -- need the national spotlight it may be more like a national torture if you will it could be a pretty. Pretty hot process she kept her cool through all this. She'd energize the base of our party which is critical to winning elections. Helping turn out the vote and I think she's -- and have been deposited of the ticket."
[2:07]" Let me ask -- the economy governor which of course is one of viewer of specialties as not regarded businessman as well as as the governor here. And wanted things that you brought to the debate when you're running for for president what advice would you give the new president whether it is John McCain or Barack Obama."
[2:25]" Well I want to make sure that we don't pursue policies that actually make things worse and that's typically what governments find themselves doing. And and specifically if you raise taxes on employers. Either corporations or sub S employers. You're -- slowdown of the economy that that's a Barack Obama has proposed it is the wrong way to go. Instead we need to create incentives for new businesses and new jobs. That's -- John McCain has been proposing that's the right way to go add one other area that this -- this card check area it's a unionization effort on the part of Democrats. It's expanding unions in the small business would be devastated the economy long term."
[3:05]" Finally the the whole business of a Massachusetts. And the universal. Health care coverage and the national problem with so many people not having -- not being able to afford. Their of their health expenses. What should the next president do should be based on the Massachusetts model that you were able to accomplish."
[3:26]" You know I think the Massachusetts Health Care model really really is -- something for the nation to examine and and major portions of it to be adopted. There are few things that probably change in the messages health care model that I didn't like it but I meant the things we've learned -- but put that aside. You know overall it's a darn good plan getting people in short without massive government expense is the way to go. I did not believe of a government takeover of health care. I think you is that the single Payer system if you will the government managed health care system is a disaster it if you look at it around the world that would be. It would break the bank in our country and the message is -- model is by far superior."
[4:04]" Final question is John McCain is successful governor Romney is there a job for you in the new administration."
[4:11]" You know that that's that's something I would plan on outside. I watched my dad -- in the cabinet it was not they agree it script is for him. But my expectation is that I will not be part of the administration I instead look to work outside the administration and fight for the things I believe them."
