[0:00]..." Well the Red Sox season came to an end last night in Saint Petersburg with a 31 loss to the rays game seven ALCS. It was inevitable really when you think about it there's only so many times a team can place itself on the edge of a cliff. And expect to escape unscathed the Red Sox have won nine straight games when facing elimination. So really last -- playing with house money. This Red Sox team very reminiscent of the 198687. Celtics team both squads were coming off championship seasons. Then faced numerous injuries along the path to a repeat performance. There were some differences of course the Celtics team made it to the NBA finals where it lost to the Lakers in six games and the Celtics did not have to deal with the disruptive force in the locker room like the Red Sox did. Yes I'm talking about Manny Ramirez who showed anyone willing to pay attention. But he has no class or character and for whatever reason decided to quit and his teammates manager coaches owners and fans early in this campaign. That became quite clear when he -- a dodger uniform and played like his baseball life depended on. If Manny had exhibited that same desire this year with the Red Sox while the Tampa Bay Rays would not have won the AL east the Red Sox would have. And last night's game seven would not have been at the trough. It would have been at Fenway Park. And who knows what would've happened that. I'm Walt Perkins WBZ sports. "...
