Play from 0:00[0:00]" How about our young Sox last night's abrupt dismissal of the regular season. Best record holding angels provide following the Celtics embarrassment of the lakers yet another humiliation for an LA team. Proving that hype has its limits. But it's also an endorsement of an underlying Red -- philosophy that is a pleasure to watch unfold. As cliched as that sounds Red Sox management and most of the players appear to believe that the team concept takes priority over individual egos. Thus in 2004. Nomar and he is excessive ego were expendable and that teams still prospered. After that Pedro Martinez and Johnny Damon were allowed to leave. When their salary demands were deemed excessive that opened the door for the quicker development of young stars like John -- and Jacoby Ellsbury. This year when -- foolishness became a blight on the team's psyche he was replaced as well with so far no real facts. Communal interest valued over selfishness. From vac -- an interesting concept. Another thing that makes the Red Sox work it's a meritocracy. That also provides equal opportunity. It doesn't seem to matter Terry Francona if you produce immediately or not be thinks you can play and you're giving maximum effort he will get a chance to play even if you struggle as Dustin Pedroia did last year. If you can't do the job and someone else can well then your Julio Lugo. And that's a final thing I notice about the Sox that should serve them well against Tampa. They know how to win in the playoffs the angels did not and -- never even been here before. The rays helps strong picturing a sharp manager and a well balanced team just like the Sox. But mark my words that one crucial difference. Will make all the difference starting Friday night."

Jon says many lessons learned during the Nizon presidency remain relevant today.

[0:13]..." you destroy yourself and quote. Did you get it. It was Richard Nixon in his farewell address to the White House staff on the day he left Washington after resigning in disgrace for obstructing justice during the Watergate affair. I have heard the quote or thought about it in a long time until last night when I attended an excellent production of frost Nixon at the colonial theatre. The play tells the story of the extensive TV interviews British talk show host David Frost conducted with former President Nixon. Which climaxed with -- an apology from knicks and for the crimes that led to his impeachment. Frost and his fellow journalists in the place celebrate that moment as the crowning achievement the forcing of a moment of truth and contrition that never would have occurred without them. But that's wrong. Nixon's ultimate moment of humiliation and admission of wrong doing. Came on that last day in the White House when he uttered that quote and that gave that last pathetic waved as he boarded the chopper. And his comment about the self destructiveness of political hatred remains appallingly relevant. Perhaps inspired by the successful pursuit of Nixon an entire culture political destruction as the ball totally self righteous and profoundly corrosive. It was evident in the persecution of Bill Clinton in a pushed arrangements syndrome that was evident well before the invasion of Iraq. And could already see the sporting a self serving hatred of Obama a man totally undeserving of such poison. If you see frost Nixon you should come away convinced of Nixon's guilt absolutely. But sympathetic to his humanity if you don't. You may be on the path toward self destruction that Nixon warned us about. "...
