Play from 0:00[0:00]" And I don't think it's entirely accidental. That we've not. Sustain another attack on the United States of America. Since that tragic September 11 attacks I think it's due to the bravery and courage and dedication. Of the individuals standing behind me today I'm greatly honored by your support and I am grateful for my friends I won't let you down. When that I'd like to respond to questions yes sir. Says that. Are you admired that management style Dwight Eisenhower admired the way he made decisions in the White House could you tell me specifically what it is to admire about. How he operated. Well first president Eisenhower really installed the entire decision making process as far as national security is concerned. In the White House the whole National Security Council the whole concept of the decision making process was. Employment of the years of experience that president Eisenhower's head. At one time commanding the largest invasion force in history of warfare. And as long years of understanding the importance of not only -- bureaucracy. But also a process that led to providing -- the present United States with the options in order to make the necessary decisions. And I think that's reflected in the decisions he made during his presidency. And there were some tough decisions one which he should we shouldn't go to Indochina. Another -- is very crisis points in the in his presidency and it was his ability. And his leadership that I think had a great deal to do the fact that the Chinese slash north Koreans and Russians decided. Ending at least bring to a halt the conflict in Korea. So the entire process. Is largely today the one that was put into place by president Eisenhower when he came into the presidency yes. Yes do you see active cooperation into energy -- Brazil and would that include scrapping import tariffs on ethanol and subsidies are points and I think. That we've made to share a number of serious mistakes in our failure to adopt a viable energy policy wine -- subsidies for ethanol. Which I went to Iowa and said that I opposed because I said it would distort the market which and indeed as. And led to serious problems of inflation. In -- had to -- our entire agricultural sector. And I also said that it was. Incredibly wrong to impose -- 55 cent tariff per gallon on imported ethanol which. These very clear is more efficient. Then corn based ethanol. And I am am unalterably opposed to protectionism and this is one of the worst kinds of protectionism that we've seen. Because we all know the importance of the issue of alternative fuels. Yes --"

Play from 3:24[3:24]" And I want to get your your comments and on two things first Jim Johnson's resignation yesterday what does that say about Obama's campaign and does Eric holder. Also need to resigned from the campaign additionally this morning the Supreme Court ruled. That that the detainees there have constitutional rights and that. That is the law wasn't adequate money get your reaction to that."

Play from 3:49[3:49]" Resignations or should be resignations I think people. And the media observers rule. Make a decision as to whether these people individuals should be part senator Obama's campaign. I think it it is a matter of record mr. holder. Recommended that he pardoning mr. rich. And all of those things will be taken into consideration by the media and the American people especially. When you -- trust in individuals with one of the most important decisions. That a presidential candidate can make before that individual is selected and that is who the running make news so. Let the facts stand for themselves I was just informed of the Supreme Court decision. I haven't had a chance to read the opinion yet. Is obviously concerns me these are unlawful combatants they are not American citizens. But and I think that we should pay attention to justice roberts' opinion in this decision. But it is a decision the Supreme Court has made now we need to move forward as you know -- always favored. Closing of Guantanamo Bay and I still think that we ought to do that yes."

Play from 5:25[5:25]" tax credits for wind and solar expire this year and you -- critical votes on -- issue how do you plan -- next time how you plan voting. Well I'd I think we need tax credits for -- vote and vote alternate energy we need to invest in pure research and and development. But we also need very badly nuclear power we're not going to. Attaining energy independence nor will we reduce greenhouse gas emissions successfully. Without developing rapidly rapidly. Nuclear power plants all across this country in Europe it takes five years to build nuclear power plant. In this country the estimate is that it's as long as ten and maybe longer. Because we don't know because it's been so long since worn it has been built. We have to find a place to store and we have to find and we have to reprocess spent nuclear fuel. I notice that nuclear power receptions. From senator Obama's energy plan. Russia."

Play from 6:26[6:26]" Today and Iraq. For withdrawing troops like Democrats giving you -- he says that's not too important. Can you explain what you meant to say and Senator Kerry also said that you are confused on the issue do you think. He's taken a shot at your age."

Play from 6:43[6:43]" All I can say is it as far as your second question is concerned obviously disappointed and a comment like that. On the first issue this is why we need town hall meetings this is why we need to go to the American people stand before that. And have them ask the questions and ask you the answers my position on the war in Iraq has been very pretty clear. Very clear posed a failed strategy that was failing argued for this strategy that's succeeding and at twenty and it's when he. And the key is not to do what Senator Obama. Said we had to do and that was set artificial date for withdrawal and also to this day refuses to acknowledge. That the surge is succeeding we are winning. So the key to it is success and withdrawal success and withdrawal. General Petraeus said that senator Obama's plan could lead to disastrous consequences he says he testified before congress. Shall we have a very clear choice here that's what this is off about. We have a choice to pursue senator Obama's path. Which is artificial -- withdraw which could lead to chaos which could eventually lead to a wider war. For staying. With the strategy that is succeeding and we will be able to withdraw and we will come home with victory and honor not in defeat. That's what this debate is all about and anything else is frankly. Not unless major subject. What I believe and know is succeeding in the three major cities in Iraq today Mosul Baghdad and Basra. The Iraqi Government and military -- in charge with American support that was the object of the search. There is no disputing factions on the Ingraham we're now winning 800. Something -- other day since Senator Obama has visited Iraq since before. The surge even began and incredibly he is still not asked to sit down with General Petraeus are commanding general. And be briefed on by him on the situation in Iraq I hope he will -- ocean yes. -- man."

Play from 9:09[9:09]" Took questions about their relating it one of them is if you get elected William actually push for an immigration reform. And second of all the Latino vote has become really critical in this campaign do you think it's going to be easier for you to concorde that vote."

Play from 9:26[9:26]" I will push for comprehensive immigration reform absolutely. It's causing problems all over America it's causing great problems to these. Individuals who are with me today they can tell you. Dramatic stories of the the way that they have to unnecessarily devote their resources time and effort on the issue of illegal. Immigrants in this country and I said we learned election. And by the way I'm proud to have reached across the island work was Senator Kennedy on this issue. The lesson we learned we need to secure the borders in we have to have kept we have to have a tamper proof biometric system. Documents so that temporary workers can come here and worked temporarily and we also have to address the twelve million people who were here. Illegally on the principle that no one who has come here legally. Or has waited to come here illegally should be displaced by someone who has come here illegally. We can work it out we can -- it it's federal responsibility it's not these gentlemen and men when men and women who work. In this law enforcement agencies responsibility it's a federal responsibility. And that's why they go from jurisdiction to jurisdiction in city to city and there's different rules different laws and almost all of them hard to enforce so my commitment is. Comprehensive immigration reform but the American people want to be assured that their borders are secured first. Yes."

Play from 11:05[11:05]" Question about what you you."

Play from 11:12[11:12]" Tom -- we're still in reflection our plans for travel and we're looking at a lot of different places it maybe I should go links. But so we have no definite plans I do want to say again Colombia free trade agreement is far more important than a trade agreement. It's an affirmation or rejection. The cooperation friendship and enormous support that Colombian government and people have given us. Trying to stem the flow of illegal drugs into the United States of America. We reject. As speaker of the house had even a vote on the Colombia free trade agreement it sends a message throughout our hemisphere. That we know that we don't. Addressing concerns and try to help our friends Senator Obama said that he would unilaterally. Unilaterally renegotiate the North African American free trade agreement with 33% of our trade exists. You know what message accents. That no agreement is sacred them if you if someone declares at this present United States they would unilaterally renegotiated. I'm for free trade. And I will stand for free trade and loan that he is all the difficulties and economic struggles we're in today. There's a little bright spot and that's our exports and -- it protectionism. Does not work and it will not work and I look forward to that debate between. Myself and Senator Obama yes go ahead mr."

Play from 12:46[12:46]" Its affiliate from the instrument sound and Kevin Rudd the Prime Minister -- as recently called for and he used style architecture covering that governing the Asia Pacific by 2020. Wonder what you thought of that and and whether or not you think that's realistic in the second question if a month in the town hall meeting yesterday talked about the need for role models -- African American community. Notwithstanding politics and policy do you think about -- of bombers that role model for African Americans."

Play from 13:13[13:13]" Of course and I think that is is done an admirable job and he is. He's run in a very successful campaign and certainly admire that they're just fundamental differences in policy. He wants to raise taxes and tough economic times -- alone he wants the government to be it. Basically make the decisions on health care for the Stanley I want to and we make the decisions mean. We are and on the issue of Iraq he wants to set an artificial date for withdrawal. Which could lead to a wider war. I I believe that the present surge is working and it will bring peace it will bring about peace so all I can say is it. I am I am appreciative of the leadership role. That Australia has played in the region maybe even sent troops to various parts of the region when there's been. Political and civil unrest. I believe that the relationship between Australia and China is is developing I believe that the more and closer. The countries in the region work together with free and open trade and more agreements with the United States of America. I am greatly in support and I think. Mr. Prime Minister is a very talented individual and I had the pleasure meeting with him in Washington. Who let -- go ahead. -- I have the utmost trust and confidence in the American people that they will make a judgment based on who. They think can best lead this nation I am proud of this nation I'm proud of the progress that we have made. And in a variety of fronts and I'm confident. That the overwhelming majority of Americans will base their decision. What we have traditionally base their decision and that is who is best qualified to lead this nation. Thank you very much thank you."
