Play from 0:00[0:00]" On this issue general theme of patriotism in your relationship to gentleman in William Ayers he was part of the weather underground in the 1970s they bomb the Pentagon. The capital and other buildings he's never apologized for that and in fact on 9/11 he was quoted in the New York Times saying. I don't regret setting bombs I feel we didn't do enough. An early organizing for your state senate campaign was held. At his house -- campaign said Europe's friendly can you explain that relationship for the voters and explain to Democrats why won't be a problem."

Play from 0:33[0:33]" Georgia but this is an example what I'm talking about this is a guy who lives in my neighborhood of professor of English in Chicago who. I know. And who I have not received some official endorsement from he's not somebody -- exchange ideas from on a regular basis and the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody. Who engaged in detestable acts forty years ago when I was eight years old somehow reflects on me and my values doesn't make much sense George the fact is that I'm also friendly with Tom -- one of the most conservative Republicans in the United States senate who during his campaign once said that it might be appropriate to apply the death penalty to those who carried out abortions do I need to apologize for mr. programs statements because I certainly don't agree -- the so this kind of game in which anybody who I know regardless of how flimsy the relationship is somehow you could somehow their ideas could be attributed to me I think the American people are smarter than that they're not going to suggests some alphabet is reflective of my views because obviously as a."

Play from 2:01[2:01]" Well I think that is that a fair. General statements but I also believe that senator Obama served on -- board with mystery -- for a period of time the woods foundation which was that paid directorship position and if I'm not mistaken that relationship with mr. -- on this board continued after 9/11 and after his reported comments which were deeply. Hurtful to people in New York and I would hope to every American because they were published on 9/11 and he said. That he was just sorry they hadn't done more and what they did was set bombs and in some instances people died selling it is you know I I think it is again an issue that people will be asking about an and I have no doubt -- I know senator Obama is a good man and I respect him greatly but I think that this is at issue that certainly the Republicans will be raising. And it it goes to this larger set of concerns about you know how we are going to run against John McCain. You know I wish -- Republicans would apologize for the disaster of the bush Cheney years and not run anybody just say that it's time for the Democrats. Unfortunately they don't seem to be willing to do that so we know. That they're going to be out there full force. And you know -- banned in this arena for a long time I have a lot of baggage and everybody has rummage through it for years and and so therefore I have. You know an opportunity to come to this campaign with a very strong conviction and feeling that I will be able to withstand. What ever the Republican -- our way."

Play from 3:54[3:54]" By the -- on America responded this just really quickly but by senator Clinton's own -- standards I don't think she would make since President Clinton pardon. Or commuted the sentences of two members of the whether other underground which I think is very slightly more significant that -- me let me serving on the board with somebody for actions that he did forty years ago this look there is no doubt that the Republicans will attack either reports. What I've been able to display during the course of this primary is that I can take a punch -- taken some pretty good ones from senator Clinton and I don't begrudge her that that's part of what the political contest is about. I am looking forward to having a debate -- John McCain and I think every poll indicates that I am doing just as well if not better. In pulling together the coalition that will defeat John McCain and when it comes to November and people are going to the polling place they're going to be asking. Are we going to go through four more years of George Bush economic policies are we going to go to four more years of George Bush foreign policy and if we have Democrats and -- as the nominee have put forward a clear vision for how we're going to move the country forward. Deal with the issues like energy dependence lower gas prices provide health care get our troops out of Iraq. That is of the debate that I'm happy to have and the debate I'm confident I can work"

[2:49]..." Well CBS news in the New York Times just issued. A whole came out last night that suggested at least with the Democratic Party he may have. Most of the Democrats have said yeah that we think he did the right thing maybe it was political but but he but he did it right whatever this is worth. His lead over John McCain. Is now the same -- we elliptical points senator Clinton's and among democratic primary voters those who have voted or intended vote future primaries. He actually leads Senator Clinton by fairly significant amount. The question for Obama is what this controversy. Pretends for the fall -- peace and harmony and there "...

[17:51]..." I'm not going to suggest what senator Obama's schedule or Senator McCain schedules going to be in the remaining. Few months before the November election I would hope that Senator McCain would join Senator Obama you're meeting with some returning veterans and soldiers who. I enthusiastically support the GI bill which John McCain opposes. I think -- Senator McCain would come to realize that these veterans deserve the same good treatment coming back from this war. As those who returned from World War II. The second point I'd like to make his Senator Obama is not calling for the immediate withdrawal of troops he's calling for an orderly responsible withdrawal from Iraq. In the sixth year of this war I think that that's long overdue and I think he's on the right track but the last point -- want to make Bob. Is one that I noticed and some of the comments of my friends Lindsey Graham. He made reference to this one on one with Petraeus I can just tell you point blank that. Barack Obama has had his opportunity to meet with General Petraeus -- questioned him in committee. They have -- had this exchange of dialogue. So this is nothing new but this is unfortunately coming out of -- script from a group called veterans for freedom. Which senator Graham and senator Lieberman on the advisory board of this to 527 that is produced an attack -- on Barack Obama. And that's unfortunate it's unfortunate because they use an Illinois soldier -- the name Garret Anderson. The staff sergeant who -- a victim of an IED who lost a part of his right arm and had traumatic head injuries Senator Obama and I both worked hard for this veteran. To get him the disability that he was entitled to I've visited with them in -- home. And I just I would say to senator Graham and senator Lieberman take a look at this ahead this really is misleading. And it really shouldn't be in this part of the campaign and I I wonder how they're being involved and it these senators being involved in it. Is consistent with senator McCain's recent statement. I was saying that if you have a title or position -- campaign. You shouldn't get involved in a five "...

[16:38]..." Yeah well it does but I got to -- I think Senator McCain was right by raising these doubts about Senator Obama there on with our minds the American people that's why. When he went on this big foreign trip. You don't it was a governor that it came talked about judgment what does it say about somebody's judgment you can go to Barack and and not come out and credit to surge. For the stabilization of Iraq and for putting this in place in a place where we can win the conflict is because Senator Obama has demonstrated such appalling judgment. He goes to Europe and does a big rally in Germany as if he's running for president of the United states of Europe not -- United States of America. It's these kind of judgment questions that Senator McCain was right to raise because there'd -- judgment questions they're sitting on the minds of Americans but it's not enough I grant you that. He's got to do several other things he's got to work he's got a he's got to point out that there is no there there when it comes to senator Obama's rhetoric he's running on an empty. You know empty rhetoric if if Walter Mondale had not used up the slogan where's the beef it would be a good one for Senator McCain right. And but Senator McCain needs to do to positive things. One is he needs to use the twelve weeks that are left to lay out edit "...

[2:25]..." Well Bob -- you know top. White House officials say they are very alarmed. At what they call it dangerous and this proportion disproportionate escalation. Of the violence on the part "...

[5:29]..." only positive and so -- that creates good judgment and I think senator Obama's strong case to the American people is that he will have the right judgment about how to. Balance America's military force was "...
